Stangl, Workman Honored By League
Caitlin Stangl and Audrey Workman were named ACCAC Batter of the Week and Pitcher of the Week respectively.
For Stangl, it is the second time that she has been so honored. In four games last week, the Tucson native had 11 hits and stole four bases. On the season, the Auburn University bound Stangl has a .510 batting average with 104 hits and is 55 for 56 in stolen bases.
Workman has been named Pitcher of the Week six times this season. The Wickenburg freshman, recorded a two-hit shutout against Community College of Southern Nevada and pitched all nine-innings in a critical 2-1victory over Pima Community College. Workman leads the league with 24 wins on the season and 180 strikeouts.
Rodriguez signs with Hawaii
Jenna Rodriguez has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the NCAA Division I institution University of Hawaii. She joins Stangl (Auburn) and Kacie Smith (Texas A&M – Corpus Christi) that have inked with DI programs. In two seasons, the California native has a 51-15 pitching record with 353 strikeouts. From the plate, she has a .464 batting average (157/338), 139 runs batted in and 33 home runs.
