Stangl, Smith To Move On

Sophomore softball players Caitlin Stangl and Kacie Smith have signed national letters of intent to play at NCAA Division I institutions next season. Stangl has put pen to paper to attend Auburn University and Smith has signed with Texas A & M University-Corpus Christi.

Both players have had very productive years at Yavapai College. In two seasons, Stangl has a .489 batting average, 144 runs scored and 66 runs batted in. Additionally, the Tucson native has stolen 122 bases in 126 attempts. Smith has hit .417 in her two years with 126 RBI’s, 131 runs scored, 54 for 55 stolen bases and 16 home runs. Both players were named All-ACCAC and 1st Team National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Americans in 2007-08.
