30-game win streak snapped. The Roughrider softball team suffered their first conference loss of the season in a doubleheader split in Yuma against Arizona Western College Tuesday afternoon winning the first game 2-0 and losing the nightcap 8-4. Despite the loss Yavapai remains in first place in the ACCAC standings with a 15-1 league mark and 37-2 overall.
Jenna Rodriguez pitched and hit the Roughriders to victory in the first game collecting the win from the mound and knocking in the only two runs scored on the game. Ashley Snedeker and Kacie Smith were each one for three with a run scored.
Audrey Workman was tagged with her only loss of the year in the second game as she surrendered seven runs in three innings pitched. Caitlin Stangl was 2 for 4 from the dish with two runs scored. Rodriguez was 3 for 4 with two runs batted in. Smith and Brittany Tucker each collected a base knock.
YC entertains Odessa College, TX Thursday afternoon at Roughrider Park in a non-conference affair. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM.
