Softball Explodes for 46 Runs
An offensive explosion took place Tuesday afternoon at Roughrider Park as the Yavapai College softball team swept a doubleheader from Gateway Community College, 20-0 and 26-1. YC improves their conference record to a league leading 14-0.
Jenna Rodriguez got the victory in the first game as she combined with Britinie Hardine to pitch a two-hitter. Every Yavapai batter got a hit in the blowout with Rodriguez, Ashley Snedeker and Aubri Chiquete hitting the long ball.
Audrey Workman and Hardine only allowed three hits in the nightcap as the offense pounded out 29 hits. Chiquete capped off a perfect day at the plate with two doubles, a home run and five runs batted in. Kacie Smith was also perfect from the plate with a home run, a double and three runs batted in. Tatem Day was four for four with three RBI’s and Sam Roskopf and Rodriguez each collected two hits.
On Friday and Saturday, YC will participate in the Phoenix College Tournament at Rose Mofford Complex in Phoenix. Luna Community College will be the first opponent on Friday with the first pitch being thrown at 12:00 PM.
