Softball Splits With Eastern...

The #2 ranked Roughrider softball team split a road doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Eastern Arizona College (16-6, 40-16). YC lost the first game 6-5 and prevailed in the nightcap 7-4. Yavapai remains in first place of the ACCAC with 20-2 record and a 44-3 season clip.

Smeltzer records 500th victory...

The #2 ranked Roughrider baseball team swept a road doubleheader Tuesday afternoon over Glendale Community College (9-15, 19-22) to remain in first place of the ACCAC and in the process head coach Sky Smeltzer collected his 500th career victory. Smeltzer boasts an overall record of 500-239-4 (.673).

The #2 ranked Roughrider baseball team split a home doubleheader Tuesday afternoon against Paradise Valley Community College (20-14, 10-10). YC dropped the first game 4-3 and bounced back in the nightcap 12-2. Yavapai remains in first place of the ACCAC with a 17-3 conference mark and 32-6 overall.

Softball Sweeps Road Twinbill...

Roughrider softball continues to roll through the ACCAC with a doubleheader sweep at Central Arizona College Tuesday afternoon, 8-2 and 4-2. Yavapai improves their league leading record to 17-1 and 41-2 overall. CAC falls to 15-5 in conference play and 30-13 overall.

Baseball Improves Conference Lead...

Yavapai baseball got two conference victories Saturday afternoon over the visiting Chandler/Gilbert Community College Coyotes, 8-6 and 9-8. The Roughriders are now 29-5 overall and 16-2 in conference play sitting atop the ACCAC standings.

Baseball Ranked #2 In NJCAA...

The Roughrider baseball team received a #2 ranking in the first NJCAA Division I baseball poll. Yavapai was ranked #18 in NJCAA Pre-season poll. Sky Smeltzer’s squad is currently 24-4 overall and head the ACCAC standings.

YC Sweeps Doubleheader...

The #4 ranked Roughrider baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader Monday afternoon against Colorado State University – Club Team, 6-1 and 7-1. The opponent has won four of the last five university club championships. Yavapai improves their record to 26-4 overall and 12-2 in ACCAC action.

For their efforts this past week, Jenna Rodriguez and Audrey Workman were named ACCAC Batter of the Week and Pitcher of the Week respectively. Both players have led their team to a 25-1 overall record and a league leading 10-0 in conference action.

7 Soccer Players Moving On To NCAA DI Programs...

Seven Yavapai College players, key members for the school’s sixth and seventh national championship soccer teams, will be moving on to NCAA Division One programs next fall. The players were 50-2-0 in their two-year career as a Roughrider, including a perfect 26-0-0 season in 2008.
