Softball Wins 1 Drops 1
The #5 ranked Roughrider softball team won one and lost one on Monday at the conclusion of a four-day road trip in which YC played 8 games. Yavapai beat North Idaho College 7-2 and fell to Chipola College, FL 5-3 in nine innings
In the first game Jenna Rodriguez got the victory on the mound scattering seven hits and striking out six. Britinie Hardine came in and pitched the final three innings to get the save.
Offensively, Raven Richardson, Rodriguez, Aly Rhodes and Ashley Snedeker collected 2 hits a piece and Chelsea Pineda cracked a home run.
In the second game, Yavapai appeared to have won the game in the top of the ninth inning on a Snedeker home run. However, the opponent’s centerfielder ran through the portable outfield fence to make the catch on the wrong side of the barrier. The umpires ruled the catch legal to end a Roughrider threat and in their half of the inning, Chipola hit a two run home run to end the game in dramatic fashion.
From the plate, Yavapai was led by Snedeker with two hits including a double. Rodriguez also collected two hits with a home run and an RBI.
Yavapai is now 7-1 overall and take to the diamond on Friday, February 6th in a non-conference doubleheader at Scottsdale Community College. The first pitch will be at 2:00 PM.
