Yavapai Player Selected JUCO National Player of the Year.

The Roughrider basketball team fell to the #6 ranked Chandler/Gilbert Community College Coyotes this afternoon 92-67. Yavapai falls to 4-8 overall and 1-5 in ACCAC play.

The Lady Rider basketball team won their seventh game of the season with an 81-50 victory over the visiting Chandler/Gilbert Community College Lady Coyotes this afternoon in the Storm Center. YC is now 7-4 overall and improve to 4-2 in ACCAC play.

The Lady Rider basketball team outlasted the Cougars from South Mountain Community College tonight in Phoenix, 76-72. YC is now 6-4 overall and 3-2 in ACCAC action.

The Yavapai College men’s basketball team won their first conference game of the year in Phoenix over South Mountain Community College, 65-62. YC came from behind to gain their fourth victory of the year against seven losses.

The Roughrider basketball teams were swept by Scottsdale Community College on Saturday night in the Storm Center. The YC women dropped the fourth game of the season 71-66 and the men fell for the sixth consecutive time 86-63.

The Lady Rider basketball team had five players in double figures Wednesday night in a 93-80 victory over Glendale Community College in Glendale. YC improves their overall record to 5-3 and 2-1 in ACCAC action. Glendale falls to 4-2 and 2-1 in league play.

The Roughrider men’s hoops team fell to the Gauchos from Glendale Community College Wednesday night, 96-88 to drop their record to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in ACCAC action.

Former Roughrider pitcher Bob Howry signed a one-year contract this past week with the San Francisco Giants. Howry, who pitched for the Chicago Cubs last season, pitched for Dave Dangler at Yavapai College from 1991-1993.
