YC Soccer Edges PC

In the October Phoenix heat, the #1 ranked Roughrider soccer team finished up an unbeaten conference road record with a 2-1 victory at Phoenix College. YC has an unblemished 18-0-0 overall record, 16-0-0 ACCAC mark and a perfect 9-0-0 road record in the ACCAC with two remaining home matches in the regular season.

Sets up showdown with #5 Pima

All of the day’s scoring was done in the first half of Saturday’s contest with Francis Khamis finding the net in the fifth minute on a pass from Jeff Bendawald. In the thirty-sixth minute, Chris Hunter kicked one in on an assist from Justin Meram. To conclude the day’s scoring, PC found Yavapai’s net in the thirty-eighth minute. That score was the first opponent goal in 4 games. On the season, the Roughrider defense has only allowed 7 goals.

On Wednesday evening at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott, the battle for the top spot in the conference will take place between Yavapai College and #5 ranked Pima Community College (14-1-0). In September, the lone Aztec loss came at the hands of the Roughriders in Tucson, 3-0. Wednesday night’s event will kick-off at 6:00 PM.
