Soccer Rips The Gauchos

Yavapai soccer advances their record to 13-0-0 and league mark to 11-0-0 with their 20th consecutive victory dating back to last season in an 8-1 win over Glendale Community College Wednesday night at Ken Lindley Field. YC has beaten the Gauchos twice this season by a combined score of 16-2.

Meram records hat trick; Khamis scores two goals and 1 assist

The Roughriders were never challenged as they scored eight unanswered goals with the visitors netting their lone goal in the waning minutes of the game. YC has scored 63 goals against conference teams and only allowed 5 opponent scores. Yavapai is now 43-3-1 all-time against GCC.

The record for most consecutive wins is 40 games held by the 1990 and 1991 teams

The home squad returns to the field on Saturday, October 4th against Paradise Valley Community College. In conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Yavapai College, all former Roughrider soccer players will be introduced in a special ceremony during the elongated halftime celebrating the six national championships in addition to the milestone anniversaries of the college and soccer program. All-time leading scorer Edson Rico and standout defender Mate Kozul, both members of Yavapai’s 1990 National Championship Team, are the co-head coaches for Paradise Valley. The match will kick-off at 6:00 PM.
