Spikers Go 1-1 Over Weekend

The Roughrider volleyball team continued their up and down season this weekend by falling at home on Friday night to the Lady Thunderbirds from Mesa Community College, 2-3 (25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 23-25, 11-15) and sweeping the Lady Coyotes at Chandler/Gilbert Community College on Saturday evening, 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-20). Yavapai is now 9-13 overall and 2-3 in conference action.

Looking for first home league win on Monday evening

In Friday’s match, YC suffered from upset hangover after defeating #10 ranked Scottsdale Community College the prior Wednesday. Against MCC, the lady spikers took a 2-1 lead into the fourth game on Friday night only to fall by two points and four points in the final two games to lose the match 2-3. The following night, Head Coach Matt Cohen’s squad bounced back with a vengeance to blank CGCC in three games.

Yavapai will be looking for their first conference home win on Monday evening with ACCAC division I leader Eastern Arizona College (13-5, 6-0) coming to the Storm Center for a 7:00 PM start time. The Lady Riders will be at Phoenix College on Wednesday, September 24th and return to campus on Saturday hosting CGCC.
