Spikers Split

On this young season, head coach Matt Cohen’s squad has faced 7 teams ranked in the top 20 polls.

Tonight in Twin Falls, Idaho, the Lady Rider volleyball team began the College of Southern Idaho Invitation with a 1-1 record to finish pool play in second place. On Saturday, YC will be playing in the Silver Bracket as a result of their strong showing on Friday.

Yavapai got solid performances from some unexpected sources as the team beat Spokane Community College, the #3 ranked team in Northwest Athletic Association of Community College (NWAACC), 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, and 25-15). In the succeeding match, the ladies faced #4 ranked Salt Lake City Community College. The Bruins proved to be too much for the home team and won 3-0 (18-25, 12-25, and 25-27).

In bracket play on Saturday, YC will begin with Mt. Hood Community College, OR, the 2006 NWAACC Champion. Following that match, Yavapai will face an opponent yet to be determined.

Yavapai returns to ACCAC action on Wednesday, September 17th at #10 ranked Scottsdale Community College.
