Soccer Beats The Matadors

Playing under extreme heat conditions, the #1 ranked Roughrider soccer team beat the Matadors from Arizona Western College (4-2, 2-2) in Yuma tonight, 3-1.

At game time (4:00 PM), the temperature in the desert town was 113 degrees. Despite the heat, YC scored the first three goals of the match en route to their sixth straight victory to remain undefeated overall and in league play (6-0, 4-0).

Francis Khamis had a banner night by netting 2 goals and Pavel Panchenko added a goal and an assist to lead the Roughrider kickers to their 423rd victory in the history of the program. Yavapai returns to the friendly confines of Ken Lindley Field on Wednesday, September 10th to entertain Scottsdale Community College.

The match will begin at 6:00 PM. On Saturday, September 13th, YC moves east to the amphitheater in Prescott Valley to play South Mountain Community College for a 6:00 PM kick-off.
