YC Soccer Improves To 4-0-0
The Roughrider soccer team improved their record to 4-0-0 with a 7-0 blanking of Dakota County Technical College (MN) tonight in Prescott Valley.
The victory is the program’s 200th (200-6-1) overall home win and keeps them undefeated at the amphitheater in Prescott Valley (26-0-0). YC is now 4-0-0 on the season and 2-0-0 in ACCAC play.
Records 200th home victory in program’s history
In the first four games of the season, Yavapai has outscored their opponents by a score of 35-2. The goals tally is the most that a Roughrider team has netted in the program’s history. In 1996, the ‘Rider team had 29 goals in their first four matches.
In tonight’s match, Yavapai took a 3-0 halftime lead and scored their final 5 goals with only 10 players on the field. Justin Meram and Chris Hunter both found the net twice in the win and Pavel Panchenko scored one goal and had two assists.
YC will resume conference play this next week on the road. Wednesday, September 3rd the Roughriders will be at Paradise Valley Community College. That match will be played at Reach 11 Sports Complex (2425 E. Deer Valley Rd.) in Phoenix. That site will be the home of the 2008 NJCAA National Tournament. That match will begin at 8:00 PM. On Saturday, September 6th Yavapai makes the trip to Yuma for a 4:00 PM start time to tangle with the Matadors from Arizona Western College. YC returns to Ken Lindley Field on Wednesday, September 10th to entertain the Artichokes from Scottsdale Community College.
