Mote Accepts Position With Baylor
Assistant Baseball Coach Trevor Mote has accepted an assistant coaching position at his alma mater Baylor University.
During his coaching tenure at YC, the Roughriders were 134-51-1 with two ACCAC championships and an NJCAA National Runner-Up in 2006. The Kingman native started his collegiate playing career at Yavapai College in 1998 and by the time he left after the 1999 season he was the most prolific hitter in Roughrider history totaling 218 hits and a combined .467 average for his career.
Mote was a two-time All-Conference and All-Region selection and was named to the NJCAA All-America 1st team in 1999. After his career at YC, Mote transferred to the University of Arizona before finishing his collegiate career in the BIG XII for the Baylor Bears.
Following his collegiate career, Mote signed with the Houston Astros in the 15th round. He spent the better part of 4 years in the minor leagues, with the highlight of being named a Midwest League All-Star in 2002.
