Roughrider Baseball Players Drafted

Five Roughrider baseball players were drafted in the recent Major League Baseball (MLB) amateur draft.
Two of the five were members of this past year’s squad and one will begin his YC career in the fall. The other two played on the 2006-07 team that advanced to the 2007 NJCAA World Series and finished as national runners-up.
Roughriders Going to the Bigs
- Taylor Lewis (2006-08) was picked up in the 19th round by the Seattle Mariners
- Justin Harper (2006-08 was taken in the 37th round by the New York Yankees
- Evan LeBlanc (2005-06) went in the 23rd round to the New York Mets
- Troy Hanzawa (2004-06) was picked in the 16th round by the Philadelphia Phillies
- Riley Welch (class of ‘10) was chosen in the 34th round by the Oakland Athletics
