Former Roughrider’s Sign with Universities for 2008-2009 Season

Two Yavapai College Men’s basketball players have signed National Letter’s of Intent to play at 4-year Universites for the 2008-09 basketball season.
Tom Whitehead
Tom Whitehead, 6’7 Guard/Forward from St. George, UT, has signed a Letter of Intent to play at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Creighton was 22-11 this past season and lost in the Second Round of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) to the University of Florida. While at Yavapai, Whitehead was named the 2006-07 ACCAC Freshman of the year and set the single game scoring record after scoring 47 points against Bismarck St. In his only season with the Roughriders, Whitehead averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks per game.

Brandon Gentry
Brandon Gentry, 6’5 Guard/Forward from Aurora, CO, has signed a Letter of Intent to play at Western State University in Gunnison, CO. He will join former Roughrider’s Steve Hudson and Jeremy Brooks for the upcoming season. Western State went 10-17 this past season, their best season in 10 years. This past season, Gentry averaged 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.
