Softball Splits Road Doubleheader

YC plays #1 ranked Eastern Arizona College on Tuesday at Roughrider Park
The Roughrider softball team split a conference doubleheader with #18 Pima Community College this afternoon in Tucson, 6-7 and 15-3. That marks the return of Head Coach Stacy Iveson to the site where she led the Aztecs to two NJCAA National Championships. Yavapai is now 37-10 overall and 18-4 in the ACCAC.
Jenna Rodriguez was the hard-luck loser in the first game despite two home runs by Shaunte Duarte and Rodriguez herself. The league’s second leading hitter, Caitlin Stangl was 3 for 4 with a double, two RBI’s and one run scored. Aly Rhodes was 2 for 3 with a run batted in and Jen Maule was also 2 for 3.
Jessie Pretzer started the second game on the mound to get the win and Britinie Hardine came in to get the save. Stangl was the hot hitter on the day going 4 for 4 with two RBI’s and one run scored. Brittany Tucker and Duarte each homered twice and Rodriguez also found the bleachers. Rhodes was 3 for 4 and Briana Swift and Maule were each 2 for 3.
On Tuesday, April 1st Yavapai will play host to the #1 team in the nation, Eastern Arizona College. Before today’s games, EAC had a 15-3 conference record. The doubleheader will begin at 12:00 PM at Roughrider Park on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott.
