Yavapai’s 16-Game Win Streak Stopped
The Roughrider baseball team’s 16-game winning streak came to a halt today as the #5 ranked Reviers from Iowa Western Community College swept a doubleheader at Roughrider Park, 7-5 and 16-13.
The Roughriders are now 21-6-1 and more significantly, remain a perfect 14-0 in ACCAC play.
In the first game, Kirby Yates (3-2) took the loss going 4 1/3 innings giving up three earned runs on seven hits and three strikeouts. Bobby Rinnard led the offense with a home run, two runs scored and two runs batted in. Kole Calhoun went 2 for 4 with two RBI’s.
In the nightcap, errors doomed the home team as the defense had five miscues. Austin Sloan (2-1) took the loss giving up three hits and one run in one inning of play. From the plate, Calhoun knocked in three runs on two hits. Jared Norris was 2 for 4 with two RBI’s and Dominic Piazza had two hits with a run batted in and one run scored.
YC continues their non-conference games on Sunday, March 16th entertaining Western Nebraska Community College (9-10). The first pitch of the twinbill will be thrown at 12:00 PM at Roughrider Park. ACCAC action resumes on Tuesday, March 18th with the Aztecs of Pima Community College coming to the Prescott campus
