YC Improves To 4-0 In ACCAC Action
Hardine tosses first possible no-hitter in school history
The softball team from Yavapai College continues to impress the league in their first season of action after a 27-year layoff. Today was no different as YC blanked the Thunderbirds from Mesa Community College, 8-0 and 8-0. Additionally, Britinie Hardine pitched the first no-hitter of the year and possibly in school history. The Roughriders improve to 15-3 overall and a 4-0 mark in conference.
In the first game, Jenna Rodriguez picked up her eighth victory of the season striking out 2 and allowing 7 hits and to help her cause she was 1 for 2 from the plate with a home run, one run scored and 3 runs batted. Caitlin Stangl was 2 for 4 with a triple, two runs scored and one RBI. Aly Rhodes was 2 for 4 with two doubles and one RBI. Jennifer Maule was 2 for 2 with two runs scored.
In the nightcap, Hardine was two walks away from a perfect game as she struck out five T-Bird batters while picking up her seventh win. Stangl was 3 for 3 including three runs scored. Brittany Tucker was a perfect 2 for 2 with four runs batted in and Maule was 1 for 1 capping off a perfect day from the plate.
The diamond dwellers continue conference play on Tuesday, February 19th hosting Chandler/Gilbert Community College. YC is a perfect 3-0 against the Lady Coyotes this season. The first pitch will be thrown at 2:00 PM at Roughrider Park on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott.
