Lady Hoopsters Exact Revenge

The Lady Rider basketball team won their fourth consecutive victory this afternoon over Mesa Community College in Mesa, 62-56.

The win avenges an earlier loss to the Thunderbirds in December. Head Coach Brad Clifford’s team is now 15-9 overall and 13-3 in the ACCAC. Currently, YC is in second place in the league standings.

Yavapai trailed the majority of the game before taking the lead with less than 8 minutes remaining in regulation. After shooting a horrendous 25% from the field and 36% from the free throw line in the first half, the lady hoopsters found their groove scoring 40 points in the second half on 48% shooting. Tehani Goldsmith led YC with 17 points and 2 steals. Paris Dunford added 14 points and 3 steals. Kellie Snyder only had six points but led the team in rebounding with 12 caroms.

The Lady Riders entertain the Aztecs from Pima Community College on Wednesday, February 13th in the Storm Center. In their prior meeting, Goldsmith hit a 10-foot jump shot with eight seconds remaining to give Yavapai a 69-68 victory. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
