Softball Continues Winning Ways

Rodriguez and Hardine shut down the Coyotes. Stangl collects 5 hits and 3 stolen bases on the day

The YC softball team continued their blistering start with a doubleheader sweep today of Chandler/Gilbert Community College in Chandler. The scores were 4-1 and 11-0. Head coach Stacy Iveson’s group is now 11-1 on the season.

Jenna Rodriguez (6-0) went the distance from the mound to get her sixth victory on the season without a loss. Additionally, she went two for three from the plate with a double. Brittany Tucker collected two hits on four at bats with a double, a triple, 1 run scored and 2 runs batted in. Caitlin Stangl had 3 hits with a run scored and a stolen base.

In the nightcap, Britinie Hardine (4-1) shut out the Coyotes allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out four. Once again, Stangl was strong from the plate with two hits including a triple, two runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Micaela Miller was two for three with a double and three RBI’s.

Yavapai returns to the diamond on Saturday, February 9th at Phoenix College. The Bears won the NJCAA Division II National Title last year. The twinbill will begin at 12:00 PM on the campus of Phoenix College.
