Softball Remains Unbeaten
Continuing their torrid start, the Roughrider softball team remained unbeaten posting two wins today in the Great Western Shootout in Yuma.
YC beat El Paso Community College, TX in their first game of the day, 7-0 and knocked off fellow ACCAC foe Chandler/Gilbert Community College in the nightcap, 10-2. Stacy Iveson’s crew is now a perfect 8-0 on the season.
Jenna Rodriguez recorded her 4th victory in as many tries holding the Tejanas to 0 runs, 2 hits and striking out 9. Additionally, Rodriguez was 1-2 from the plate. Micaela Miller led the home team offensively with 3 hits including a triple, a run scored and 1 RBI. Briana Swift was 1-3 with a run scored and 1 RBI and Shaunte Duarte was 1-3.
Britinie Hardine pitched 4 innings of shutout ball while giving up only 1 hit and striking out 3 to earn her third victory on the season. Jessie Pretzer finished off the Coyotes by striking out 1 and giving up 2 runs on 1 hit.
Offensively, Caitlin Stangl was 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 stolen bases. Aly Rhodes was 1 for 4 scoring 1 run and knocking in 1 run. Kacie Smith was 1 for 2 with a double, 2 runs scored and 1 run batted in. Brittany Tucker was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and Miller was 1 for 1 with 2 runs scored.
On the final day of the shootout on Saturday, Yavapai will face Snow College, UT at 11:00 AM and Community College of Southern Nevada at 3:00 PM. YC opens up conference action on Tuesday, February 5th at Chandler/Gilbert Community College.
