Lady Bears Upend YC

After an inspiring win in overtime at Cochise College on Wednesday, the Lady Riders dropped a disappointing game to Phoenix College this afternoon, 74-69.

YC falls to 9-3 in conference play and 11-9 overall.

Yavapai led by as many as 9 points in the first half only to see the lead dissolve to a one point deficit at halftime, 24-23. Trailing by as many as 14 points in the second half, the lady hoopsters battled back to close the gap to 4 with 2 minutes remaining. But that was too little, too late as the loss puts head coach Brad Clifford’s team in third place of the ACCAC standings.

Tehani Goldsmith led the offense with 17 points. Kellie Snyder dropped 13 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had 5 assists. Paris Dunford finished with 10 points. Ebony Ward had a nice line with 9 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 5 steals.

Yavapai remains on the road for their next conference game at Glendale Community College on Wednesday, January 30th. Tip-off will be at 5:30 PM.
