Roughriders Score An Impressive 2OT Victory

Last night in Douglas, the Yavapai College basketball team beat Cochise College (12-7, 5-6) in double overtime, 117-111.

The victory breaks a tie for sixth place with the Apaches in the hunt for the final playoff spot. Yavapai improves to 10-9 overall and 6-5 in ACCAC action.

At the end of regulation the score was all netted up at 98. After the first overtime period both teams again were tied, 105-105. YC seized control of the final frame winning by 6. Louis Barraza led the Riders with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Brock Entner dropped 20 points and had 7 assists. Keith Wilson also contributed 20 points and added 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Brandon Gentry had an impressive line with 18 points 12 rebounds and 6 assists and before fouling out, Mychal Martinez added 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists.

YC returns to the hardwood on Saturday, January 26th at Phoenix College. In their first meeting of the year, the Bears beat YC on their home floor 84-78. Tip-off will be at 4:00 PM and can be heard live on 95.9 KKLD.
