Pantalione Receives Coach of the Year Honor

At the their annual convention, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) honored Yavapai College head coach Mike Pantalione as the 2007 Junior College Division I Coach of the Year.

The announcement was made late Friday evening at the banquet in Baltimore, MD. Pantalione, the only head coach in the program’s history, led Yavapai to its sixth National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) title. In addition, the 24 wins in 2007 were a school record and improved Pantalione’s career mark to 417-29-13. It is the fourth time he has been named NSCAA National Coach of the Year (1990, 1997, 2002), the most among coaches at the junior college level.

Furthermore, for the sixth time, Pantalione was named NJCAA Coach of the Year and for the 13th time the NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year and national finalist. Inducted to the NJCAA Hall of Fame in 2006, Pantalione became the all-time leader for wins at the division I junior college level this past season overtaking legendary soccer coach Pete Sorber at 416.
