Roughriders Fall Short In Upset Attempt

The smell of upset was in the air tonight as the Roughrider men’s basketball team played the #14 ranked North Idaho College Cardinals (12-1) in the Donnelly’s Challenge in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Up by as many as 13 in the first half of the game, YC faltered in the end to lose the upset bid 74-72. Yavapai’s overall record is now 7-5.

Louis Barraza led Yavapai with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Brock Entner had 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jon Black chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds and Brandon Gentry added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

The going gets tougher tomorrow evening as the Roughriders play #6 ranked Salt Lake City Community College. Tip-off will be at 6:00 PM. All the action can be heard on 95.9 KKLD with Zack Calandra providing the play by play.
