Garcia, Fimbrez Named NSCAA/adidas All-American
Becomes the 41st and 42nd Roughrider to gain the award
The Roughrider soccer awards continue to mount as sophomores Irving Garcia and Vincent Fimbrez was voted to the NSCAA/adidas Men’s Junior College Division I All-American Team, arguably the most prestigious team to be named to. Both players were voted to the First Team.
Garcia, who prepped at San Luis High School in Yuma, AZ, adds to his accolades on the year. Shortly after the regular season, Garcia was named ACCAC/Region I Player of the Year. He was also named to the NJCAA All-American First Team. Fimbrez, from Thunderbird High School in Phoenix, AZ, is also a decorated player being named to the ACCAC/Region I First Team and voted by his teammates as Most Valuable Player for 2007.
The player’s achievements mark the 41st and 42nd time that a Roughrider soccer athlete has garnered such an award. Most recently in 2006, Roger Espinoza (Ohio State University) and Tim Kelly (Oregon State University) received the honor.
