Bears Drop Threes On The Roughriders

Drop 2nd consecutive game

The Roughrider men’s basketball team dropped their second consecutive game and first conference game last night to the Bears from Phoenix College, 84-78. YC is now 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the ACCAC standings.

The Riders took a one point lead into the intermission, 36-35 and even led by as many as 11 early in the second half. The Yavapai defense held the opponent to 37% shooting from the field, however, PC hit 13 shots from beyond the 3-point line which proved to be the difference.

Jon Black led the scoring for the Roughriders with 14. Brandon Gentry and Louis Barraza added 13 points with Bruce Fuller and Keith Wilson chipping in 11 and 10 points respectively. YC won the battle of the boards on the night despite giving up 17 offensive rebounds, 42-38, with Gentry snatching 9 caroms and Wilson, Barraza and Black grabbing 8 each.

Yavapai returns to the hardwood on Saturday against Glendale Community College. Tip-off will be at 4:00 PM in the Storm Center on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott.
