Bruins Outlast The Lady Riders
Goldsmith, Carson and Cook in double figures
The Lady Rider basketball team dropped their third game of the young season to Salt Lake City Community College, 67-59 in the Wolverton Challenge in Twin Falls, ID. YC is now 1-3 overall and play the host team tomorrow evening, College of Southern Idaho.
Yavapai trailed by 5 at halftime, 25-20 as SLCC extended the lead to 10 points early after intermission. The lady hoopsters closed the gap to 4 midway through the 2nd half but foul trouble took its toll and the Bruins ran away with the victory.
Tehani Goldsmith led the Riders in scoring with 18 points. Jonisha Carson added 11 points and 5 assists. Sandy Cook chipped in 10 points. Kellie Snyder led the squad in rebounding with 10 caroms. YC shot a dismal 38% for the game, but held the opponent to 36% from the field. “I am very pleased with our defensive effort this afternoon”, said Head Coach Brad Clifford, “Unfortunately, we are having a hard time finding the basket.”
The Lady Riders play College of Southern Idaho tomorrow evening in their final game in Idaho before returning to the Storm Center for their ACCAC home opener on Wednesday, November 28th against Phoenix College. Tomorrow evening’s game will tip-off at 6:00 PM.
