Lady Riders Record First ’07-’08 Win

6 players in double figures

Playing their final game of the Southern Utah University JUCO Classic, the Lady Rider basketball team came away with a 75-54 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday afternoon in Cedar City, Utah. The win was Yavapai’s first of the young ’07-’08 season.

Playing sluggish after a disappointing and hard fought loss the night before, YC took a 30-26 lead into halftime. The lady hoopsters extended that lead early in the second half and cruised to the 21 point victory.

Sophomore Jonisha Carson led the scoring on the afternoon with 15 points. Freshmen Sandy Cook and Terri Todecheene added 12 points a piece. Sophomores Tehani Goldsmith and Rachael Beck chipped in 11 points and sophomore Kellie Snyder scored 10.

YC will return to the hardwood in their home debut next Saturday, November 10th against semi-pro team Tucson Sol. The contest will begin at 3:00 PM in the Storm Center on the campus of Yavapai College in Prescott.
