Roughrider Soccer Pounds the Coyotes

The Roughrider soccer team erupted for 7 goals in a 48 minute span to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 8-1 victory against Chandler/Gilbert Community College and improve their league leading record to 16-0-0 tonight at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott. YC has outscored their opponents this season 79-15.

Pavel Panchenko had a record breaking night as he scored 1 goal and tied a school record for assists in a single game with 4, a mark that has stood since 2001 when Kenny Fechner set the record. Isaias Hernandez had a very productive game with 2 goals and 2 assists and Dallas Rusch-Michener added 2 goals.

YC enters the last week of regular season play having already clinched the ACCAC title and home field advantage throughout the NJCAA Region I Play-offs. Yavapai travels to Tucson on Wednesday, October 17th to face a possible play-off team Pima Community College. Kick-off will be at 3:30 PM. On Saturday, October 20th, South Mountain Community College comes to Prescott for the finale of the 2007 regular season. That match will begin at 7:00 PM.
