Former Lady Hoopsters Playing Professionally
Five former Yavapai College lady basketball players have completed their post-YC schooling and have signed to play basketball professionally overseas.
Melanie Cleusix (2002-04) returned to her homeland of Switzerland after finishing school at Carson-Newman College to play for the local team, Martigny-Rhone. This last season, her first as a pro, Cleusix averaged 34 minutes per game, 12.7 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Charity Renfro (2003-05) finished a stellar career at Penn State University and has inked with Munich Basket of the highest league in Germany. This coming season will be her first in the professional ranks.
Katie Schrader (2003-05) capped off her career at Florida Gulf Coast College with a #2 ranking and a trip to the NCAA II Championship game (losing in the final game). Katie has contracted to play for Saarlouis Royals of the German League. This will be her first season overseas.
Pavla Pletkova (2003-05) earned her engineering degree from Indiana University – Purdue University at Fort Wayne and immediatley signed on to play with TSV Veirnheim of the German League. This will be Pavla’s first professional year.
Tarryn Montgomery (2004-05) graduated from the University of Indianapolis and is also heading to Germany to play with Bonn, a team that has finished first and second in the league in each of the past two seasons. This will be her first year with the squad.
