YC Clinches A Tie For The ACCAC Title

Yavapai locks up a share of their 19th consecutive conference championship

The Roughrider soccer team clinched a tie for their 19th consecutive ACCAC title with a pounding of the Gauchos from Glendale Community College (1-13, 1-13), 7-0, tonight at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott. With 4 games remaining in the regular season, YC needs just one point to secure the conference championship outright. Tonight’s victory advances the kickers to a 14-0-0 ACCAC record and 15-1-0 overall mark.

In the victory, YC scored all 7 goals in a 25-minute span and Ivan Dizdar and Andrew Gentry combined for the shutout in goal, the team’s sixth shutout of the year.

Yavapai looks to wrap up the league title on Wednesday, October 10th in Yuma against Arizona Western College. AWC lost to South Mountain Community College tonight, 2-1 to drop their record to 6-8 in conference play and 7-8 overall. In their first meeting of the year, YC scratched out a 2-1 win in Prescott. Wednesday night’s match will begin at 6:00 PM on the campus of the Matadors in Yuma.
