Roughriders Shoot the Bears

Swensen gets a goal and an assist

The #2 ranked Roughrider soccer team improved their league leading record to 13-0-0 after a 3-2 victory in Phoenix tonight over the Phoenix College Bears.

PC opened the scoring on this night as they found the net in the opening minutes of the match. YC evened the score in the 20th minute as Irving Garcia found a cutting Colby Swensen who kicked the equalizer in the goal. In the 29th minute, Francis Khamis took a pass from Swensen to put the Riders up for good and take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

To conclude the scoring for Yavapai, Rudy Duarte scored an unassisted goal in the 76th minute, that proved to be the game winner as Phoenix College scored their final goal in the waning moments of the match. The win gives head coach Mike Pantalione and the soccer program’s 407th career victory.

Yavapai returns to the field on a rare Monday evening game at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott to entertain Glendale Community College. In their prior meeting of the year, YC beat the Gauchos 5-2. The match on Monday will kick-off at 6:00 PM.
