Yavapai plays best volleyball of the year
The Lady Rider volleyball team pushed the defending NJCAA Region I champions, Arizona Western College, to the brink of defeat only to lose 3-2 in the ACCAC Division I match on Friday.
Upset was in the air as YC took the first two games 30-25 and 30-22. However, the perennial powerhouse AWC won three straight games, 30-26, 30-27 and 15-10, to squelch the hopes of the home crowd.
Yavapai’s overall record drops to 9-12 and puts them at 4-4 in league play. AWC improves to an 8-1 mark in the conference and 15-5 overall.
The lady spikers take to the road on Wednesday, October 3rd to tangle with the Lady Artichokes at Scottsdale Community College. In their first meeting of the year, YC upset the then #16 team in the country, 3 games to one. The match will begin at 7:00 PM on the campus of SCC.
