Roughriders Win On The Road
Swensen finds the back of the net in successive minutes
Roughrider soccer tallied an impressive road win tonight at the hands of the third place team in the conference, Mesa Community College. The final score was 5-1 and Yavapai remains unbeaten on the road. YC improved their league leading record to 10-0-0 and MCC dropped to 6-4-0.
The Riders scored three goals in the first half beginning in the 13th minute with Evan McNiel knocking it in on a pass from Chris Hunter. In the 30th and 31st minutes Colby Swensen scored two goals. Pavel Panchenko assisted on both scores. MCC scored late in the 2nd half to go into intermission down 3-1.
Neither team could find the net until the 87th and 88th minutes when Yavapai iced the game with two goals. Justin Meram, assisted by Irving Garcia, scored first and Francis Khamis hit one in on a ball from Rudy Duarte to conclude the scoring on the evening.
YC concludes this 3-game road swing on Saturday at Paradise Valley Community College. In their first meeting of season, Yavapai beat the Pumas 5-1. Saturday’s contest will begin at 12:00 PM.
